This study of the Gospel According to Matthew is drawn from Ray and Star Silverman's forthcoming book, "A Seamless Garment", which guides readers through studying all four Gospels.

The Gospel of Mark picks up precisely at the point where Matthew has finished, with the "Great Commission", when Jesus charges His disciples to preach the good news of His birth, life, death, resurrection, and, especially, His teachings. Mark opens by saying, "The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." This is it! And right away, he starts with "the voice of one crying in the wilderness," proclaiming that the Messiah, the Son of God, has come.

Luke's gospel will focus on matters that involve the intellect, and the deepening of our understanding. It will be an attempt “to set in order” an account of those things “which are most surely believed.” It will be about that “holy temple”—the place in our minds where we deeply contemplate truth, meditate on the Word, and turn to the Lord in prayer.
